Carved out of the woodlands sits the 9-hole Minnechaug Golf Club captivating in beauty and appeal.
The course has mild undulations and winds its way through the neighborhood and the forest, and is a walkable course.
Although it’s a 9-holer, the course has two par-5’s that are almost 500 yards in length. So, it’s technically not an executive par-3 course. You will experience variety here.
As much as you can use the driver here on certain holes, a directional approach is also important on some holes, as otherwise, you might lose a few balls to the neighborhood houses.
Most of the holes also have trees that you need to contend with as this is a feature of this course.
Except for two holes, 8 and 9, there is no water on the other holes. Holes 8 and 9 are probably the most talked-about here.
The 8th has an island green and the 9th requires a carryover. This island green is also considered to be one of the first in the country and the first one in the Connecticut and New England area.
Strategic play is important here, especially with club selection, otherwise, you’ll get to see your ball swimming next to the geese.
This course is also ideal for beginners, seniors, people who are short on time, and those who want some practice as they were out of the game and want to get back in.
Measuring 2670 yards, the course is short and walkable, but it packs a punch for a 9-hole course with its variety and challenges.
With 3 sets of tees available, golfers at levels will find this course to be fun and challenging.
