If you have a historical bent of mind, the name Poplar Forest will certainly ring a bell. This is a place made famous by Thomas Jefferson, where the former President designed and owned a plantation, which is now a historic landmark.
The 9-hole Poplar Forest Golf Course was constructed out of this property.
Poplar Forest is one of the 4 golf courses in the Forest area of Lynchburg, which is part of Bedford County.
The area has a subtropical climate with cool winters and hot humid summers with a year-round golf season.
Poplar Forest Golf
Poplar Forest Golf Course was built in 1980 by course architect Ken Killian from a portion that was part of Jefferson’s plantation.

As the name suggests, the course is situated in a thickly wooded area that gives it a pristine countryside feel that comes out alive in the Virginia sun.
This 9-hole course is ideal for beginners and seniors as well as people who are short of time and are looking for a quick round of golf.
With wide-open fairways and not too many hazards, the course is fun to play, and with multiple sets of tees, can accommodate golfers at all skill levels.
With its reasonable prices and a big driving range, this course is pocket-friendly too.
