Purgatory Golf Course is situated in Noblesville, just outside of northeast Indianapolis.
This course, considered to be one of the lengthiest on the planet has won many accolades including Gold Digest’s Top Courses In Indiana for several years, and America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.
The facility is a 40-minute drive from downtown Indianapolis. The course is an hour and 37 minutes from Fort Wayne and 2 hours from Cincinnati and Dayton.
The club is generally closed for play during the winter months.

Purgatory Golf is a beautiful course with scenic views and sits on 218 acres of gently rolling farmlands.
The course claims to be the longest non-mountain course on the planet, measuring more than 7700 yards from the tips and is a long hitter’s dream come true.
There are a whopping 130 bunkers with some massive ones for hazards from where the club also derived its name and is kinda famous for it too. If someone were to see an aerial photograph of the course, you couldn’t blame them if they said that this was some kind of an art project.
The course is made in links-style meaning there wouldn’t be too many trees on the grounds and will have undulating greens with a risk-reward layout. The fairways are tight on some and wide on others with some sidehill lies. The roughs are thick, which can play spoilsport. There is water on the course but doesn’t really come into play that much.
As long as you can get the ball onto the fairways, things should bode well for you and you’d be able to put a decent score on the board. Otherwise, bring in some extra set of balls. As someone said, “Heaven if you shoot good and Purgatory if you don’t.”
With all these yardages, you’d be compelled to think that the course is a very challenging one. Although it’s not easy, as long as you pick the right set of tees, there is no reason why anyone shouldn’t find this course to be a fun one too.
There are six sets of tees that cater to all skill level levels with the tip Purgatory at 7754 yards and the forward Yellow at 4560 yards.

Layout
Driving Range
The facility has a large 40-station driving range for long-game training as well as a putting green and chipping area with a bunker for short-game practice.
Dress Code
Appropriate golf attire is required. Metal spikes are not allowed.

Restaurant – Menu
Purgatory’s dining options include a full-service restaurant and bar.
The facility has a nice clubhouse that can host events and parties and is a popular spot for weddings. The Lodge can seat up to 250 in the banquet hall and also has a wedding coordinator.
Pro Shop
The club’s pro shop stocks golf equipment and apparel.
The club has tied up with Elevation Golf – a team of PGA professionals, trainers, and coaches that offer golf lessons and instructions in all aspects of golf with customized programs that cater to everyone’s specific needs.
