Rob Roy Golf Club – Prospect Heights
Rob Roy Golf Course was built in 1928 and designed by course architect Edward Dearie.
Rob Roy is a pretty little 9-hole course that sits on 51 acres and winds its way through the neighborhood.
Historically, this was a 27-hole course that was trimmed down to 9 for developmental purposes. And that reflects on the course layout with houses lining the fairways, and in certain cases too close for comfort.
The good part about this is that there are no parallel fairways except on one hole where the fairways are separated by a water body.
Suffice to say that the tree-lined fairways are tight and straight shots are rewarded. Prepare to lose some balls otherwise, and worse, you might end up breaking a window or two.
Other challenges come in the form of water that is present on 4 holes and 15 sand traps that are littered throughout.
Overall, this is a fun course to play and is ideal for those who are short on time and want a quick round of golf. Seniors, as well as those who are looking for a practice round, will also find this course to be affable.
With two par-5s’, five par-4’s and two par-3’s, this is not the typical 9-hole par-3 course that one might expect.
Measuring 3022 yards from the back tees and with 1 hole measuring more than 500 yards in length and with 4 sets of tees available, golfers at all levels will find this to be a challenging and fun course to play.
A mini-golf course is also available for kids of all age groups.
The Woodland Trails Driving Range & Practice facility which is situated right next to Rob Roy can be used for the long-game swing practice as well as for short-game training.
With 35 hitting stations and equipped with lights for the night, it’s perfect for the late-evening after-work driving sessions.
The facility is open for play from dawn to dusk. You may visit the course’s website for reserving tee time hours.
Formal golf attire is not required. Metal spikes are not allowed.
