Tates Creek Golf Course is situated on the outskirts of Lexington, Kentucky, and is 15 minutes from the city center.
The course is nestled in the midst of a community neighborhood in Tates Creek.
This municipal course is one of the four that is managed by the city.
The facility is an hour and a half drive from Cincinnati and Louisville.
The course is open for golfing year-round, weather permitting.

Tates Creek is an old-school golf course built in the year 1958. The course has a nice “7” shaped layout and sits on 125 acres.

The course is decently maintained for a city course and has a tranquil vibe to it.
This is a pretty city public course and can get fairly crowded.
This course is challenging enough, unlike municipal courses that are built for the average golfer with a quick pace of play.
Unlike most municipal courses that one would come across, this one is surrounded by houses on all the sides and there are several holes with houses lining the fairways too.
There are undulations on the course but is not overtly sloping and there aren’t too many hazards either.
The gently rolling fairways are lined with trees that can occasionally pose a hazard.
The fairways although tight are forgiving. The greens are sloped and small. There are a few blind shots to the green but nothing alarming.
The course is short by today’s standards with a yardage of 6260 from the back tees. Most of the holes are under 400 yards except for two that measures 500 and above.
There are 4 sets of tees available for players at all skill levels that make this a challenging and fun course to play.

Driving Range
The facility doesn’t have a driving range but has a short game practice area with putting and pitching greens.
Dress Code
Proper golf attire is not required. Metal spikes are not allowed.

Tates Creek is a daily-fee public course and has no membership options available.
Restaurant – Menu
The clubhouse has a snack bar that serves food and beverages. The facility also has a ballroom that can seat 120 people, for events and functions.
Pro Shop
Tates Creek has a golf shop that stocks accessories and apparel from a variety of brands.
The facility also has professional instructors providing golf lessons for both beginners and experienced golfers.
Tee Times
The course hours are from 7:30 AM to dusk.
